The all-trans form is the usable one. Inexpensive preparations often contain cis portions without declaring this. The label should therefore explicitly state "all-trans".

How your body absorbs nutrients →

Fact sheet on the nutrient page: Vitamin D3 never works alone →

What's inside

Two vitamins and an oil to transport them. The carrier is usually MCT oil from coconut or olive oil. Capsules have a coating, while drops do not. Vitamin D3 is typically derived from lanolin (wool grease); for vegan preparations, it comes from lichen, which is explicitly stated on the packaging.

What D and K are officially recognized for

The EU has authorized health claims for both vitamins (Regulation (EU) No. 432/2012). These claims apply if a product provides at least 15 1/3 T of the reference intake per daily serving, i.e., from 0.75 µg of vitamin D or 11.25 µg of vitamin K. The authorized wording is as follows:

Vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus.

Vitamin D contributes to normal blood calcium levels.

Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, teeth and normal muscle function.

Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system.

Vitamin D plays a role in cell division.

Vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting.

Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.

How it is taken

Take it with a meal containing some fat. If taken on an empty stomach, some of it remains unused because both vitamins are only absorbed from the intestines with fat. In our latitudes, sunlight is insufficient from October to March to produce vitamin D in the skin. This is precisely why supplementation is necessary.

The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment recommends a maximum daily intake of 20 µg (800 IU) of vitamin D from dietary supplements. Anyone wishing to take higher doses on a long-term basis should have their 25-OH-D blood level checked beforehand, rather than taking supplements based on suspicion.

Knowledge, figures, research

Why vitamin D is so often scarce in winter, why K2 is the right partner and what research says about it, compactly explained in the nutrient atlas.

To the nutrient atlas →

Good to know

One point deserves special mention because it truly matters: Those taking coumarin-type anticoagulants (such as Marcumar, Warfarin, or Phenprocoumon) should only supplement with vitamin K after consulting their doctor. These medications work by affecting vitamin K metabolism, and additional K2 counteracts this effect.

Vitamin D is fat-soluble. It is best absorbed when consumed with a meal containing some fat.

If you have elevated calcium levels, kidney stones, or sarcoidosis, consult your doctor beforehand.

Different dosages apply to children than to adults. Please consult a doctor regarding the dosage.

Human amounts of vitamin D are toxic to dogs and cats. Keep out of reach.

As always, dietary supplements are a supplement, not a substitute for good food and not a substitute for medical advice. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have children, pre-existing medical conditions, or are taking long-term medication, it is advisable to consult your doctor beforehand.

[80

post-8604","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","product_cat-nahrungsergaenzung","first","instock","shipping-taxable","product-type-simple","eh-kaufbar
["GET
