Volcanic mineral with a cage structure.
Zeolite (Clinoptilolite)
Available soonZeolite (clinoptilolite), a finely ground volcanic mineral with a lattice structure that can bind substances in the intestine.
At a glance
- What it is: a natural aluminum silicate mineral of volcanic origin
- Special feature: Crystal lattice with tiny channels that exchange ions and bind molecules.
- Legal framework: Marketed in the EU as a medical device, not as a foodstuff; health claims are not permitted.
- Tradition: Long established in agriculture and water treatment, its use for humans has been discussed since the 1990s.
Here's how to use it
If you'd like to try it: one teaspoon in a large glass of water, away from meals and medication, as a course of treatment over two to four weeks. Make sure you're getting tested quality: a certificate of analysis for heavy metals and purity, ground, not nano-fine.
Good to know
- Zeolite binds non-specifically, so it also binds medications and nutrients: at least two hours' interval before anything else.
- Not suitable for use in cases of kidney disease, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or in children.
- The liver and kidneys are responsible for detoxification in the true sense, as explained in our article on detoxification. Zeolite is not a substitute for medical treatment.
As always, a medical device is not a substitute for medical advice. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a child, pre-existing medical conditions, or are taking regular medication, it is advisable to consult your doctor beforehand.
